A Dozen Perfect Brownies

It has been crazy at home. Crazy!

First, my husband fell sick, got better, then I came down with a light fever & cold and so my dearest decided to fall sick again as well. Just to steal my thunder. He does it every time!

According to him, sharing is caring.

Um, no thanks hubs, just take care of me when I’m not feeling well. No need to join me.

Especially considering what big B-A-B-I-E-S men turn into when they are the tiniest bit under the weather. Am I right, or am I right?

Crispy tops, chewy centres are what make the perfect brownies in my book! So much better than box mix brownies! #homemadebrownies #oldfashionedbrownies #crispytopsandchewycenters #easybrownies #darkchocolate #fromscratch #browniesfromscratch #browniesrecipe #chewybrownies #besthomemadebrownies #bestbrownies #simplebrownies #browniesundaes #_littlemiracles_ #foodphotography #milk&brownies #linkinbio #walnutbrownies #brownieswithwalnuts

So after 2 days of lying on the couch with my laptop and tv controls, I decided it was enough. If you know me, then you’ll know 2 days of lazing around are just about as much as I can take. Continue reading “A Dozen Perfect Brownies”

Mom’s Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

It has been one crazy week!

All started with me catching a throat infection, which obviously then turned into a fever. As soon as I started getting better, our grandma got sick and my recovery went down the drain as I was so worried about her!

Like I said, crazy.

I am finally getting more than three hours of sleep a night after three days and I am sleeping like the dead.

Moist, nutty caramelized notes of brown sugar pair with crunchy walnuts in this classic carrot cake with a cream cheese frosting that is light and creamy- and the perfect amount! No leftover frosting!

Lemon Cupcakes with White Chocolate & Lemon Buttercream

I love lemon.

Lemon Bars, lemon tarts & lemon chiffon cake to name a few.

These lemon cupcakes, like I’ve mentioned before for the Lemon Cupcakes with Lavender Buttercream, are like little cakes of sunshine.

Light, citrus cupcakes with a tender crumb pair wonderfully with the creamy white chocolate buttercream for a refreshing dessert.  #lemon #lemoncupcakes #whitechocolate #whitechocolatebuttercream #buttercream #frosting #winniethepooh #bakinggoals #baking #easyrecipes #kidsparty #dessert #partydesserts

However, this dessert was more inspired by my love of a bear.

Yes, a bear.

More specifically, an adorable yellow bear who lives in Hundred Acre Wood.

With 2018 coming to an end, I decided to throw this year’s healthy mantra away to enjoy these decadent Sticky Toffee & Walnut Puddings!

To be completely honest, this isn’t the first time this year that I’ve enjoyed this particular dessert. A real close friend of mine had chosen this as one of the desserts at a recent wedding. That’s where I was hooked. It is, however, the first time I’m making these at home.

I’ve just got one word for you.

Sinful.

These Sticky Toffee & Walnut Puddings is sweet, the walnuts add a crunchy texture and pair wonderfully with the moist cake giving you a rich dessert!

Maamoul- Date Filled Cookies

Living among different cultures and nationalities gives you insight into different traditions and a chance to try out new things.

Maamoul (Date Filled Cookies) are melt in your mouth cookies with a smooth date paste in the center with a hint of rosewater.

Growing up in the Middle East meant that shawermas, manakeesh, baklava, basboosa and maamoul were among the few things popular in our home. I think trying out diverse things at a young age helps sharpen your sense of adventure even as an adult. I’m never opposed to trying out new foods- there may be certain things I don’t find appetising, but those aside, trying out different flavors and brand new recipes is something I relish. Date & Nuts Baklava (Filo Pastry)

I feel like I’m losing my voice. Not literally. Just what makes me, well, me.

Or maybe I’ve just let too many outside voices in. If that makes any sense.

I think I just need some stimulating company with some conversation that makes you ponder about..everything.

See? HELP!

Life has been so crazy recently, filled with unexpected curve balls poppin’ up outta no where paired with the constant back and forth between the different cities has left me with not much of a routine. No routine means a lot of time wasted for me! Especially if I’ve got some good romance novels nearby!

Baklava is a beautifully golden pastry covered in a cinnamon honey syrup encasing a decadent filling of almonds and hazelnuts and a smooth date spread. Continue reading “Date & Nuts Baklava (Filo Pastry)”

Blueberry Almond Pie

Hello my fabulous foodies! Today’s recipe is a dreamy Blueberry Almond Pie but before we get into that..

Don’t you just love surprises?

I know I do! I might love guessing them as much as being completely taken by surprise, which makes it really difficult for my husband to actually surprise me. Not that I feel entirely too bad about it ’cause that just gives him a challenge to be more creative! (Just kidding!)

He has, however, gotten really good at them- caught me by surprise twice this year- which really is something!

I am at the moment sitting far, far from home because of his second surprise and totally loving it!

Which brings me to the beautiful blueberry pie recipe I wanna share with you guys- it perfectly suits the crisp weather and beautiful Swiss city I’m falling in love with!

A sweet berrylicious treat wrapped up in a flaky pastry that's even better than anything you could pick up at a bakery since you've made it from scratch at home!
